1Project is a freelance content production studio based in Toronto, Canada. Naturally, they needed a website that creatively balanced showing off their production work and high quality with their core value proposition through strong messaging. We redesigned 1Project’s site and did a full rebrand, including a logo revamp.
We helped 1Project develop a completely new brand and visual identity. This included a new brand kit in addition to a revamp of their logo. 1Project had constantly mentioned in our discovery calls wanting to balance creativity and innovation within the branding while also maintaining a level of professionalism as they worked with several Fortune 500 enterprise companies. We opted for a dark-themed site to elicit emotions of creativity, balanced with beautiful pops of yellow that helped hook people in. This was followed by multiple interactive elements and animations on the page to create a captivating user experience.
The 1Project leadership team understandably had a difficult time articulating their goals and vision for the new logo identity early on. As part of our detailed discovery and research process, we sat down with the team to pull multiple inspiration pieces from a variety of different websites. We categorized the logos into different sub-buckets based on what fit the identity of 1Project and what didn’t. This helped everyone align on a cohesive vision that helped shape the final logo.
We went through multiple iterations and design explorations of the logo. We wanted to convey elements of videography through a camera lens but we also experimented with geographical shapes and illustrations around the word “1Project”. Going through several rounds of iterations helped keep the 1Project team in the loop and allowed for the final product to come out much better as a result.
After several rounds of iteration and feedback, we finally landed on the word-based logo without any embossment or object. The logo balanced simplicity and elegance yet hints of creativity and sharpness, which are brand values of 1Project. We considered the logo being applied to multiple use cases, such as on a dark, light, or neutral background.
The services page is equally as impressive as the home, featuring beautiful and immersive video content at every second of the journey. We focused on really telling a story rather than just throwing words on the page. Users are hooked and motivated to scroll through the site, with the added benefit that they are simultaneously consuming content that 1Project has produced for its clients.
With such a modern and innovative brand, it was absolutely crucial that the mobile experience be equally stunning. With an abundance of graphic elements and video content, we had to make certain everything aligned properly and the flow was uninterrupted on screens of all sizes.
The old case studies page on the previous website featured a standard grid-type layout with not much interaction. The revamped case studies page features immersive full-width blocks that grab your attention and drive you to take action to learn more.
A major pain point with the old 1Project website was a lack of streamlined design with individual case study pages. 1Project had delivered amazing results and produced stunning content for its clients, but this wasn’t reflected on the old case study pages. We focused on crafting a narrative throughout each page with sections to highlight content, deliverables, and the value prop delivered. These were templatized and extremely easy to update so that 1Project could create new case studies in the future without having to bug a developer every time.
